ISLAND LAKE – Island Lake will resurface an extra road this season.

The Island Lake Village Board approved the road projects at its meeting Thursday evening, a step needed to use the village’s portion of motor fuel tax dollars.

The board had previously awarded a contract for Forest Drive from Landsend Court to Eastway Drive and all of Landsend Court, Brierhill Drive, Oakwood Road, Locust Avenue and Hill Court.

Brier Court from its west end to Eastway Drive was added to the list of selected roads.

All the roads are concentrated on the east side of Island Lake near the center of the village.

In total, about 4,850 feet, or 0.92 miles, of roadway will be repaved.

They were picked based on need and whether they met the regulations of the Community Development Block Grant, which is covering part of the project, Public Works Director Willie Kootstra said.

The remainder is being funded through motor-fuel tax dollars.
