Lake in the Hills man, Marengo coach, now in serious condition

A Lake in the Hills man who was involved in a roll-over crash in Bull Valley has been upgraded to serious condition, Advocate Condell Medical Center said Monday evening.

Robert J. Kruse was critically injured in a crash Wednesday morning in the 1300 block of Fleming Road.

Kruse's vehicle left the road, struck several trees and rolled over, police have said. Authorities have said they believe Kruse had a medical issue prior to the crash.

He was extricated from the vehicle and had to be taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Kruse, who suffered multiple broken bones in the accident, regained consciousness Thursday.

Kruse, a 61-year-old retired coach and teacher from Dundee-Crown High School, started as an assistant football coach at Marengo High School earlier this year.
