Radwanski’s course-record 32 lifts Marian boys

Marian Central’s Noah Radwanski set a course record Monday at Wing Park in Elgin in the Hurricanes’ 154-163 boys golf win over St. Edward.

Radwanski had only 11 putts en route to shooting a 4-under-par 32 for the Hurricanes (1-0), with Ben Schnepf adding a 37.

Marengo 171, Genoa-Kingston 182: At Marengo Ridge, Ryan Wick shot a 2-over 38 for the Indians to take medalist honors, with Hunter Simonini adding a 39 for Marengo in its Big Northern Conference victory.

GIRLS GOLF

CL Central 157, Johnsburg 222: At Nippersink in Genoa City, Wis., Lexi Harkins took medalist honors for the Tigers by shooting an even-par 36 in their Fox Valley Conference win. Larisa Luloff added a 39 for Central (1-0 overall, 1-0 FVC).

Emma Johnson led the Skyhawks (0-1, 0-1) with a 51.

Genoa-Kingston 248, Marengo 250: At Marengo Ridge, Monica Millard took medalist honors for the Indians with a 53, but Marengo (0-1, 0-1) fell in a BNC match.

BOYS SOCCER

CL South 4, Marengo 1: At Crystal Lake, Gary Sexson scored two second-half goals for the Gators in their season-opening nonconference win.

Orlando Tapia added two assist for South (1-0). Miguel Cortez scored on a free kick for the Indians (1-0), with Dylan Marks making 10 saves in goal.

McHenry 1, Grant 0: At McHenry, Carlos Duran scored on a James Mulhall assist for the lone goal of the game for the Warriors (1-0) in their nonconference win.

Hampshire 4, Belvidere 3: At Hampshire, Daniel Rodriguez scored two goals of the Whip-Purs (1-0), with Jose Hernandez adding a goal and an assist in their nonconference win.

Antioch 3, CL Central 0: At Crystal Lake, goalkeeper Matt Gagnon made 12 saves for the Tigers (0-1) in their nonconference loss.

Huntley 3, Boylan 1: At Huntley, Allen Barrientos and Christian Ramos each scored for the Red Raiders (1-0) in their nonconference win.

Harvard 3, Wauconda 1: At Wauconda, Jerry Martinez scored a goal and assisted on a Daniel Escobar goal for the Hornets (1-0) in a nonconference win.

GIRLS TENNIS

Huntley quad: At Huntley, the host Red Raiders defeated Elgin, 3-2, Rockford East, 5-0, and Streamwood, 5-0, going undefeated in doubles play across all three matches.

Jantzen Rosales and Jessica Chalas won all three of their No. 2 doubles matches in 8-0 single-set victories, with Ally Pietrusiak and Tamara Funke losing only one game in No. 1 doubles play for Huntley.

Marian Central 5, Grant 2: At Fox Lake, Rachel Melchionna and Kaitlin Pinter won their No. 1 doubles match, 6-0, 7-5, for the Hurricanes in their nonconference win, with Ariel Majewski adding a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
