CRYSTAL LAKE – The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois is teaming up with First Institute to provide a free kidney screening Sept. 6 for all community members.

The screening will be offered by the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois’ KidneyMobile, a mobile unit that travels across the state screening individuals for kidney disease and its main causes: diabetes and high blood pressure.

The screening will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 757 McHenry Ave., and anyone interested in getting their kidneys checked is welcome to attend.

There is no cost to be screened, and appointments are not necessary.

In addition to a free screening, attendees will be able to talk privately with a nurse or doctor about their results and take a tour of the KidneyMobile.

To date, the KidneyMobile has screened more than 35,000 people in Illinois. Unfortunately, 73 percent of people screened had at least one significantly abnormal test result.
