Police: Man exposed himself to girl near McHenry bus stop

The McHenry Police Department has increased patrols near school bus stops after a man allegedly exposed himself to a young girl Wednesday morning.

A 13-year-old girl was walking east on Beach Drive in the McHenry Shores subdivision around 7 a.m. Wednesday when a vehicle stopped and asked her for directions, police Chief John Jones said. As the teen approached the passenger-side window, the man exposed himself.

The girl backed away, went to school and contacted her parents and police, Jones said. McHenry School District 15 officials later sent a letter to parents making them aware of the incident.

The vehicle was described as a late 1990s green SUV with a damaged bumper and rust on the left side of the tailgate. It also had a white Air Jordan symbol in the rear window.

The man reportedly had short blond hair and was in his 20s. He was described as white, wearing a red shirt with sunglasses.

The investigation is ongoing.
