Wonder Lake man dies after motorcycle crash

A Wonder Lake man died after his motorcycle struck a culvert on Friday morning, according to the Wonder Lake Fire Protection District.

Troy E. Farkas, 43, was pronounced dead on Friday morning at Centegra Hospital – McHenry after being found unresponsive near a Wonder Lake home.

Crews responded to a report of a motorcycle accident with injuries in the 5300 block of E. Wonder Lake Road at around 2:15 a.m. on Friday after a homeowner in that area heard the crash and called 911, fire officials said. The man was later found lying unresponsive near his motorcycle.  

Farkas was traveling south on East Wonder Lake Road when his motorcycle left the roadway near Spaatz Avenue for unknown reasons, according to the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.

He proceeded through a ditch, struck a culvert and went through the driveway of a home in that area, fire officials said.

Flight for Life was unable to respond due to weather conditions.

Farkas was transported to Centegra Hospital - McHenry, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy and toxicology testing was scheduled for Friday morning.

The investigation is ongoing.
