Police arrest 2 in prescription drug sales

McHENRY – Police in an undercover investigation arrested a McHenry woman and an underage girl in connection with selling prescription drugs, the McHenry County Sheriff's office announced Tuesday.

An undercover officer on Aug. 30 arranged to buy Xanax pills from the two females at an address on Lake Street near McHenry. Shortly after the transaction, detectives arrested McHenry resident Kristina L. Smith and a 16-year-old Holiday Hills girl on multiple drug charges.

Smith, 31, of 813 W. Wood St., McHenry, and the juvenile were both charged with illegal delivery of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a controlled substance. Smith additionally was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a child.

Police during the investigation seized 34 Xanax pills. The sheriff's office estimated the street value at $170.
