Police charge Marengo man with cocaine possession, intent to deliver

MARENGO – A Marengo man was arrested last week after police found 32 grams of cocaine, a scale and packaging materials inside his home, the McHenry County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.

Marvin Soto, 23, of 500 1/2 Kennedy St., Marengo, was charged with illegal possession of a controlled substance, a Class 1 felony; and illegal possession of a controlled substance with an intent to deliver, a Class X felony.

Police searched Soto's residence with a warrant Aug. 28 and seized the cocaine and other materials. The sheriff's office estimated that the cocaine had a street value of $2,000.

Soto was scheduled to appear in court  Tuesday.
