FOX LAKE - A Fox Lake road was reduced to one lane after a large hole was reported in the pavement.

Northbound Route 12 at the Route 59 intersection was reduced to one lane Wednesday morning, according to Fox Lake Police.

Both northbound lanes were shut down for a period of time Tuesday after a motorist reported a hole in the road, according to Fox Lake Police Lt. Mark Schindler. The hole, reportedly three feet in diameter, was examined by the Illinois Department of Transportation and it was determined the bridge had some deterioration and the maximum allowed weight needed to be lowered, Schindler said.

A timetable for the repair has not been set,  Schindler said.
