MCC offers noncredit culinary classes

CRYSTAL LAKE – Area residents can explore creative cooking techniques and recipes at upcoming noncredit culinary classes offered this fall by the McHenry County College Continuing Education Department.


Tapas Party: Professional chefs will create a menu specializing in the regional cuisine of Spain, including spicy potatoes with special tomato sauce, chicken croquettes, paella iberica, flan and sangria. The class takes place from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park in Crystal Lake. The cost is $65 per person. Use course ID: NCU S51 009 to register.  


Everything Apple: Students will explore creative ways to use a variety of apples and also learn about the varieties and their flavors, texture, use and availability.  Students will learn how to make apple tarte tatin, apple hand-held pies and waffle with caramel apple topping. The class takes place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park in Crystal Lake. The cost is $65 per person. Use course ID: NCU S47 009 to register.  


Autumn Salads and Sides: Participants will learn some quick and easy recipes to add to their family favorites as they explore combinations of fruits and vegetables. The class takes place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 13 at MCC in Room B179. The cost is $49. Use course ID: NCU S19 009 to register.


Football Tailgate: Students will dominate their next tailgate party with secrets and tips from Chef Aaron. The class takes place from 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 21 at MCC in Room B179. The cost is $53. Use course ID: NCU S55 009 to register.
