McHENRY – The Lovell Federal Health Care Center’s McHenry Community Based Outpatient Clinic will host an unveiling of Seward Johnson’s sculpture, “Unconditional Surrender.”

The event will take place at noon Wednesday at the clinic, 620 S. Route 31, McHenry.

The sculpture, also known as the “Kiss Seen Around the World,” is one of three, 6-foot-tall replicas traveling the country. The statue captures the famous kiss in Times Square shared by a returning sailor and a nurse on V-J Day, Aug. 14, 1945.

The unveiling on Sept. 11 will honor veterans from World War II to post-Sept. 11 operations. The guest of honor will be Anthony Gargano, a 93-year-old World War II veteran and former POW.

The public is invited to attend the unveiling of the sculpture and enjoy refreshments to celebrate and honor all of our country’s veterans.
