Route 176 reopened after downed power line causes brush fire

A section of Route 176 was closed for roughly one hour Tuesday after downed power lines caused a small brush fire.

PRAIRIE GROVE –  A section of Route 176 was closed for roughly one hour Tuesday after downed power lines caused a small brush fire.

Route 176 from Behan Road to Buhl Road was closed as crews from the Nunda Fire Protection District extinguished flames coming from the grass on the side of the road.

Nunda firefighters were called around 1:50 p.m. after a passerby called in the downed power lines, according to the fire department. 

The fire was extinguished and the road was back open just before 3 p.m.
