Seminar to address changes to mental disorders manual

CRYSTAL LAKE – Health-care professionals can get the most up-to-date information about the new classification system in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders at a seminar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 8 at McHenry County College. 

The seminar covers the new system, newly organized trauma disorders, changing diagnostics for children and adolescents, impulse control and anxiety disorders, and more. It provides information about new diagnostic categories and about the reimbursement implications.

Seminar presenter Tom Smith is a licensed mental health counselor, a doctor of pharmacy, and a board-certified clinical psychotherapist. 

The tuition, $55 payable to the McHenry County Behavioral Health Foundation, covers lunch and continuing Education Credits.

The registration deadline for the seminar is Sept. 17.
