Vote for fire trustees

Published: Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

Past McHenry Township Fire Protection District trustees have questioned my agenda, and a petition for election of trustees is coming soon to your neighborhood. I question the unsupervised squandering of our tax money.

After numerous FOIAs and contract investigations, I find taxpayers (you) spent almost $1.3 million for an addition to Fire House No. 1 and have absolutely nothing to show for it. Property taxes, which your family just stretched to pay, have been consumed by unconscionable and incompetent neglect, totaling $1.3 million.

My 10-minute oral presentation to district trustees questions their mismanagement, lack of fiduciary responsibility and integrity. The good old boys did it again. Your money is gone. With no bid contracts, demolished properties and inflated egos, the trustees swept through your tax savings like a swarm of financial locusts with impunity.

I am asking for public approval of a petition for the election of trustees to the district board; no more appointments by the County Board. Only registered voters in McHenry Township are eligible to vote. Ten percent of the eligible 38,000 voters are required for the petition, requiring almost 4,000 signatures.

Make a difference, it’s your money. Become knowledgeable, vote for trustees next election.
