CRYSTAL LAKE – Area residents will get a chance to learn the basics of preserving the summer's bounty at an upcoming event.
In "Canning Basics," the history of canning and usefulness in food preservation will come alive as "Dilly Beans" are prepared with green beans from the Colonel Palmer House garden.
This program takes place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Mrs. Palmer’s kitchen at the Colonel Palmer House, 660 E. Terra Cotta Road, Crystal Lake.
The cost is $15 for Crystal Lake Park District residents and $20 for nonresidents.
