RINGWOOD – Join the McHenry County Conservation District on a 2.5-mile History Hike from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 28 starting at the Kettle Parking Lot in Glacial Park Conservation Area, Route 31 and Harts Road.
Attendees will learn about the people who lived in this area since the 1850s while looking for drainage tiles, apple trees, planted pines and other signs of past human inhabitants. The group also will pay a visit to the Thomas family cemetery and a couple of old homesteads.
The program is for adults and families with children ages 10 and up. It is free for county residents and costs $2 for nonresidents.
The registration deadline is Friday.
