QUINCY – A western Illinois man will spend a quarter century in prison for his role in a home invasion in which an 82-year-old woman was stabbed and injured.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reported that an Adams County judge sentenced 51-year-old Turhan Bowen after he pleaded guilty to felony home invasion. Prosecutors dropped three other charges, including an attempted murder count.

Authorities said Bowen was a family friend of the victim when he forced his way into her home Aug. 4 and stabbed the woman twice in the neck, bound her with duct tape and fled with cash and jewelry.

The woman survived.

Bowen declined an offer by the judge to speak during the sentencing hearing.

Bowen has been ordered to pay the woman’s medical bills and $400 restitution.
