Published: Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 4:05 p.m. CST

MARENGO – Construction on Prospect Street in Marengo started Monday and won't be completed until the end of November.

Motorists in the area should expect periodic lane closures during construction, as crews work to resurface and widen Prospect Street. Crews also will be adding turn lanes on Route 176 and Route 20 onto the street.

The $2.88 million construction project also calls for the installation of traffic signals at the Route 20 intersection. The Illinois Department of Transportation is managing the project.

Marengo officials plan to release updates on the project's timeline and lane closures during the construction. For information, call Marengo City Hall at 815-568-7112.
