2 face drug-related charges after traffic stop in McHenry

WOODSTOCK – A traffic stop in McHenry last week netted more than $1,200 in drugs, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Alexandra Hanners, 19, of Wonder Lake, and Amber M. Kumm, 27, of Cary, were each charged on Thursday with five counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, and possession of cannabis.

Members of the Intelligence Led Policing Unit pulled over a Ford Explorer on Thursday near Garden Quarter and Hanley Street, according to a news release. The K-9 Unit was called, and deputies found $1,835 in cash and one pill inside the SUV.

The driver, Hanners, was arrested for driving a vehicle without a driver’s license, the release states. Kumm was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Each individual was later searched, and deputies recovered 6.7 grams of crack cocaine, 3.8 grams of heroin, 1 gram of cannabis and two pills, the release states. The drugs were valued at more than $1,200.

Both are still being held at the McHenry County Jail on $80,000 bonds.
