Letters to the Editor

Exercise better judgment

To the Editor:

I write to protest the publishing of the political cartoon in Saturday’s paper. The Pittsburgh paper that originally published this has an obvious hatred of everything Republican.

I remember some particularly vile cartoons during the years of President George W. Bush. This one on Saturday was a new low. It should be well known by now that the food stamp program spending has risen astronomically during President Barack Obama’s watch, as has most government spending.

There obviously are many people on food stamps who should not be there. We should support any effort to rein in government spending.

To attack Republicans for their attempts and suggest that makes them cold and heartless is despicable. As for your part in giving this cartoon wider circulation, that is bad editorial policy. I will not cancel my subscription in protest, but I hope in the future you will exercise better judgment.
