CRYSTAL LAKE – A Crystal Lake remains in stable condition two days after he was hit by an ice cream truck.
Jose Mundo-Gonzalez, 42, was trying to cross Route 14 in Crystal Lake Monday night when he was hit by a truck driven by Kristina Stynoski, 28, of Wonder Lake.
Stynoski was eastbound in the inside lane of Route 14, east of Linn Avenue, when the accident occurred. There is no pedestrian crosswalk at the location
Mundo-Gonzalez was initially transported to Centegra Hospital – McHenry with what were believed to be life-threatening injuries, according to a news release Tuesday from the Crystal Lake Police Department. He was later transferred to Rockford Memorial Hospital.
No charges have been filed and the accident is still being investigated as police make sure they've spoken to all the witnesses and await the results of chemical tests, Cmdr. Dan Dziewior said.
