Kiwanis support

Published: Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

To the Editor:

As a member of the Crystal Lake Kiwanis Club, I want to thank Crystal Lake and surrounding communities in advance for their ongoing support of our club and the annual Peanut Days.

This year, we will be giving away peanuts and accepting donations Sept. 27 and 28 at various locations. We realize this is the time of year that many organizations are looking for donations, and we appreciate those individuals that choose to give to Kiwanis.

Thank you to Joseph’s Marketplace, Jewel-Osco, Country Donuts, The Forester and Starbucks for allowing us to collect donations near their place of business. Also, a big thank you to Crystal Lake South High School’s Key Club for helping us raise money by collecting donations and giving away peanuts. We are also selling cases of peanuts and trail mix for $40 a box, and appreciate the businesses and individuals who have preordered their boxes. We still have many more boxes to sell.

Funds raised in the past have been donated to various local organizations, including the Crystal Lake Library, The Salvation Army, SEDOM, Bravehearts Therapeutic Riding, and many others.

Look for our upcoming activities – a poinsettia sale in November and our annual Santa Run for Kids on Dec. 1. We hope to see you participating in one of our events, or, better yet, we welcome new members at any time.

If you are looking for more information, check out our website www.kiwaniscrystallake.com, and thank you again for supporting our group.
