Sheriff's Office asking for help in finding armed robber

HARVARD – The McHenry County Sheriff's Office is asking for help to identify a man they say had his face painted when he robbed a gas station early Monday morning.

The man walked into the Chemung Township Citgo, 24102 Route 173, at 1:55 a.m. carrying a large knife and demanding money from the employee, according to a release from the sheriff's office.

He left the gas station heading east on foot. It's unknown how much money he was able to secure, the release said.

The suspect is described as about 5-foot-8-inches tall with an average build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket or sweatshirt, black pants and red gloves. His face was painted white, red and black, according to the release.
