CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) — Eastern Illinois University President William Perry says a fraternity has been suspended and late-night campus activities temporarily put on hold after violence at a party last weekend.
Perry said in a message to the Charleston campus Thursday that the fraternity that sponsored the so-called Barn Party on Sept. 15, has been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation. The Mattoon Journal-Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1f0syDy ) the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity sponsored the party.
Charleston police reported that two people suffered gunshot wounds and one was a victim of a battery at the party. All were treated at a local hospital.
