Letters to the Editor

Offended by cartoon

To the Editor:

Regarding the letter to the editor by Wesley Emch (“Exercise better judgment,” Sept. 18, 2013), you, sir, are absolutely correct.

The referenced cartoon is reprehensible, and what is implied is a total lie. There are many (myself included) who grew up very poor, although nobody told us that we were poor. Our families instilled a proper attitude, and we became well educated, had a reasonably successful career, and now retirement.

I am very, very slow to be offended.

However, I am greatly offended by the referenced cartoon. It should never have been promulgated, and I only can hope that, henceforth, that sort of thing will not make it past the editor.

Mr. Emch, you are spot on. Keep up the good work.
