PALOS PARK – A judge has ordered two men held without bail in the slayings of a mother and daughter whose bodies were found in the trunk of a burning car.
Fifty-year-old Robert Danno and 24-year-old Jose Fernardo Martinez-Hernandez appeared in bond court Tuesday.
They're charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Danno's wife, 51-year-old Mary Ann Urban-Danno, and her mother, 79-year-old Theresa Urban.
Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart said the women both were strangled before their bodies were placed in the trunk of a PT Cruiser, which was driven to a suburban Palos Park forest preserve and set on fire.
Dart said money was a possible motive in the slayings.
He said the older woman owned property in Lake Geneva and has more than $500,000 in savings.
