The Woodstock girls cross country team claimed the top spot Saturday at the J.T. Taylor Invitational in Genoa with a total time of 1:40:08.84.
Maura Beattie of Woodstock was the top finisher with a time of 18:09.41. The Blue Streaks had two more finishers in the top 10 with Kate Jacobs posting a time of 20:06.75 for eighth place and Grace Beattie finishing in 20:08.46 for 10th.
Marengo finished sixth was led by two top-five finishes. Kitty Allen was second overall in 19:22.76, and in third was Allie Sprague in 19:24.10.
Richmond-Burton was ninth as Breanne Retherford finished 19th in 20:46.78.
Marian Central took 12th and was led by Abagail Jones, who finished ninth in 20:07.96.
A few Johnsburg runners were also at the meet, but they didn’t have enough there to qualify for team standings. The Skyhawks were led by Delaney Pruitt, who would have had a time good enough for 34th place.
Bartlett Invitational: At Sunrise Park, Jacobs’ Lauren Van Vlierbergen won the race by 30 seconds, and the Golden Eagles were third with 101 points. Carolyn Van Vlierbergen, her freshman sister, was 16th.
Crystal Lake South, one of the area’s most improved teams, was fourth with 103 points. Kiley Britten was 12th, and Caitlin Bruzzini was 15th to lead the Gators.
Huntley finished eighth, led by Kate Mitchell in 18th and Kelly Meehleib in 19th.
Rock River Run Invitational: At Sterling, Hampshire finished 11th with a total time of 1:47:24. Natalia Sztukowski led the way for Hampshire with a time of 20:29 to finish 35th. Morgan Richert was next on the team, finishing in 39th with a time of 20:42.
Freeport Invitational: Crystal Lake Central’s co-op team, with golfers from Central, Crystal Lake South and Cary-Grove, shot 327 to win the tournament at Park Hill Golf Course by 31 strokes. Libertyville (358) was second and McHenry (377) was third in the 16-team tournament.
Lexi Harkins shot 5-overpar 77 to lead Central to the title. Emily Jean (81) was second, Larisa Luloff (83) was fourth and Bailey Bostler (86) was seventh. The Tigers’ Lauren Kalamaras (89) and Alex Siavelis (89) picked up medals for ninth and 10th, although their scores did not count for the team.
Kailey Lindholm (91), Maddie Ogden (93), Lok Yansick (94) and Hannah Ogden (99) were the scoring golfers for McHenry.
Huntley was led by Gillian Young with a 96, Marian Central’s Kenzie Mocobni shot a 99 and Dundee-Crown’s Maggie Ahern shot a 100.
Richmond-Burton 371, Lakes 456, Antioch 534: At Antioch Golf Club, Blake Betke took medalist honors for R-B (15-0), which remained undefeated on the season. Betke shot an 80 to lead the way. Mackenzie Hahn shot an 88 and Jenny Wojcik added a 98 for Richmond-Burton.
Cary-Grove Invitational: At Cary, Crystal Lake South won the quad invitational with a total of 13 points. The Gators had several players go undefeated on the day. Julia Thome went 3-0 at No. 1 singles to take first place and Jacqueline Booroom was also undefeated going 3-0 at No. 2 doubles. At No. 1 doubles Kelsey Laktash and Rachel Rasmussen went 3-0 to claim first.
Marian Central finished in a tie with Hononegah for second with six points. The Hurricanes were led by the second-place finish of Abby Waters, who went 2-1 at No. 1 singles.
Cary-Grove was fourth, one point back of the tie for second place. The Trojans' best finish came at No. 1 doubles, where Jessica Honojosa and Lauren Betz took second.
York Invitational: At Elmhurst, the Crystal Lake co-op swimming team finished in ninth place. Freshman Nora Mollitor led the team with two top-10 finishes. Mollitor was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle and ninth in the 50-yard free. Sara Sullivan finished ninth in the 200 free.
