Crystal Lake teen is in custody after stabbing

CRYSTAL LAKE – An 18-year-old teenager is in custody, accused of stabbing a juvenile Friday night.

Tyler J. Sharbaugh, of 304 Lee Court in Crystal Lake, was charged Friday with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a Class 3 felony. He remains in custody in lieu of $100,000 bond.

According to the criminal complaint, Sharbaugh stabbed a male in the upper back. Crystal Lake police said the alleged victim was a juvenile.

The incident happened Friday shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the area of 231 Uteg St. in Crystal Lake.

Sharbaugh has a pending misdemeanor assault charge from an incident in April in Crystal Lake. In that case, he allegedly brandished a folding knife at a different person during a confrontation. He also was charged with underage drinking in that incident.

Crystal Lake police are continuing to investigate Friday’s incident. Multiple subjects fled the scene when police arrived and more arrests are expected in connection with the altercation, according to a Crystal Lake Police news release.

Sharbaugh is scheduled to appear in court Thursday on the felony charges.
