Tug-of-war pits teams against 757 airplane

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — Want to pull a 757 aircraft with your bare hands?

Chicago Rockford International Airport officials urge you to get a team together for the UPS Plane Pull on Oct. 13.

The winning team gets bragging rights but all participants will benefit the United Way of Rock River Valley.

Teams will pull a 200,000-pound 757 aircraft 20 feet across the tarmac. That's the equivalent of about 100 elephants, 57 automobiles or 40 blue whales.

The quickest to navigate the distance will be the winner.

Teams may have up to 20 people. The entry fee is $200.

Airport executive Mike Dunn says he's pleased to work with logistics company UPS and the United Way. He says the competition will allow "people to experience the tarmac from a different perspective."
