Thoughts on voting
To the Editor:
In my last letter I used the phrase, “Stupid is as stupid does.” It is hard to believe, but there are people out there who already know who they will be voting for this coming primary election.
We don’t know who all will be running, but these people already have made up their minds. Some will vote 100 percent Republican, some 100 percent Democrat. And then there are those who really fit the phrase – these are the people who will not vote.
What’s wrong with thinking that everything that the Republicans do is not all right nor is it all wrong. And the same for the Democrats. So why vote 100 percent for one or the other?
And for the others, why is it that you don’t vote? You will moan, groan and complain, but you won’t vote. And you will wonder why taxes are high, or for some, how did I lose my house, why are things so bad? You didn’t vote. Look around you.
There is a big country out there and, whether you like it or not, you are a part of it. So please do your part and cast your vote. Primary elections usually have a low turnout. Let’s try for 40 to 50 percent. Above all, you have to remember, “Stupid is what stupid does.”
