A Union man has been charged with driving under the influence after his vehicle had a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer.
About 2:20 a.m. Thursday, Jorge Alvarez, 39, was driving a Ford F-250 north on Route 20 near Church Road when he drove into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Volvo tractor-trailer, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
Alvarez was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin and then transferred to Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge.
The driver of the tractor-tractor, George C. Olson, 58, of Long Prairie, Minn., was treated and released at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.
Alvarez was charged with improper lane use, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a revoked license, transportation of alcohol by a driver and failure to reduce speed.
