Pedestrian stable after Route 20 crash

MARENGO – A 17-year-old man is in stable condition after being hit by a vehicle Friday afternoon on Route 20 in unincorporated Marengo.

Henry Franks was transported by Marengo Rescue and Fire Protection District to Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He is listed in stable condition. Franks is the son of state Rep. Jack Franks, D-Marengo.

"He's going to be OK," Jack Franks told the Northwest Herald on Saturday.

At about 3:46 p.m. Friday, members of the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, Marengo Police Department and the Marengo Rescue and Fire Protection District responded to the scene of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. According to the sheriff's office, the man, Henry Franks, was struck by a vehicle traveling west on Route 20. He was not within a designated crosswalk when the crash occurred, the sheriff's office said.

The man was thrown from the force of the impact and landed in a yard to the north of the road.

The driver of the vehicle, Patrick G. Murphy, was not injured in the crash.

No citations have been issued at this time. The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County's Sheriff's Office Major Accident Investigations Unit.
