Algonquin fall recycling event scheduled

ALGONQUIN – The village of Algonquin will hold a Fall Recycling drop-off event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at Presidential Park, 700 Highland Ave.

This event to Algonquin residents only is offered in cooperation with Waste Management, Vintage Tech Recyclers and Charity Pickup Service. Proof of residency will be required at the time of drop-off. 

Items accepted for recycling include lawn furniture, large plastic toys, grills, clean metals, wood-based furniture (dressers, beds, entertainment units), large cardboard boxes, clean wood, aluminum gutters and Styrofoam.

Electronics eligible for recycling include computers, televisions and radios.

Donations include small appliances, electronics, clothing and household items. Donated items must be in working condition.

Last year’s event recycled more than 14,000 pounds of electronics, more than 28,000 pounds of materials and donated two truckloads of reusable clothing and household items.
