Algonquin Area Library supports Turning Point shelter

Published: Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 12:50 p.m. CST

ALGONQUIN – In exchange for wearing jeans Oct. 1 and 2, Algonquin Area Public Library staff donated more than $400 to Turning Point, McHenry County’s only domestic violence shelter.

In addition, both Algonquin Area library locations will serve as a donation spot for Turning Point throughout October. The community is invited to donate toiletries, office supplies and clothing for women and children.

Since 1987, October has been designated as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Algonquin Area Public Library District supports the efforts of Turning Point and the safe haven it has created for women and children who are victims of domestic violence.

For information about library hours and locations, call 847-458-6060 or visit www.aapld.org.
