CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College’s Continuing Education Department offers photography classes for beginner through advanced, including anyone who wants to delve into photography as a hobby or a career.
• Basic Digital Photography: Participants will learn the basics of digital photography, including the elements of exposure control, photographing people, low-light photography, plus close-ups and action shots. How to share images and store photos also will be covered. Bring a camera (any type of digital camera is suitable). The class takes place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 15 to 29 in Room E119. • Aerial Photography: This class will cover the best aircraft for aerial photography, the best time of day to take photos, controlling vibration and motion blur, plus a discussion on equipment and lens use. Students will have an option to participate in a free flight from Poplar Grove Airport (weather permitting) after taking the class. This course meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 17 in Room E217 and Oct. 19 at a time and location discussed at the first class. The cost is $160. To register, use course ID: NPH S20 010.
• Macro Photography: Participants will explore methods and techniques used for macro photography. The class will discuss equipment that helps to maximize macro photography, although any type of camera will do for this class. The class takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 12 in Room E119. • Visual Poetry: This class will teach how to be more effective using natural light, how to reduce and simplify, participate rather than critique, and capture a story. The class meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 13 to 27 in Room A226. The cost is $89. To register, use course ID: NPH S22 011.
