CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College’s Continuing Education Department is offering some fun events this fall.
• Ghost Hunting and the Paranormal: Aspiring ghost hunters or those interested in the paranormal will learn about the history, techniques and equipment used to try to capture evidence of paranormal activity and ghosts. Members of the Society for Anomalous Studies will show participants how modern-day ghost hunters conduct investigations, from pre-investigations into claims of haunted locations and spectral sightings. See and hear intriguing evidence captured from haunted prisons, asylums and locations throughout the Midwest.
The class will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 19 in Room A117 of the college, 8900 Route 14. The cost is $45 a person. To register, use course ID: NSP S47 010.
• “Wicked the Musical”: Named “the defining musical of the decade” by The New York Times, “Wicked” tells the story of two girls who meet in the Land of Oz. One born with emerald green skin is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and popular. Learn how these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. Lunch is on one’s own before the 2 p.m. matinee. Seats are in the loge at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago.
The tour will be from 9:15 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 31. The group will meet in the MCC Commons. The cost is $149. To register, use course ID: NST S31 010. No refunds.
