A man was injured in an accident involving a chainsaw in an unincorporated area near Woodstock, police said.

Crews from the Woodstock Fire Rescue District were called to the 2500 block of Greenwood Road around 1 p.m. Thursday for a report of a man injured by a chainsaw. Members of the Bull Valley Police Department also were called to the scene.

The man accidentally cut his leg just above the knee with the chainsaw while he was working on his property, Bull Valley Village Administrator Rich Vance said.

Flight for Life was called to take the man to an area hospital. He was expected to be released Thursday evening.

Woodstock Fire Rescue told Vance the cut was about 6 inches deep, but missed the femoral artery.
