Roundup: Harvard girls golf qualifies two

The Harvard girls golf team qualified two individuals to sectionals from the Class 1A Byron Regional at Prairie View Golf Course in Byron.

Harvard’s Abigail Linhart shot a 105 and Kayleigh Isonhart shot a 109 to qualify for Saturday’s Aquin Sectional at Park Hills golf Course in Freeport. The Hornets took seventh as a team with 487 strokes.

Marengo took eighth as a team with 493 points, led by Monica Millard’s 113.


Richmond-Burton 2, Harvard 0: At Richmond, Kelsey Burlini served 25 straight points in a row for the Rockets (13-8, 7-1), with Jenna Mazur adding 14 digs and Ali Frantti totaling nine kills for the Rockets in their 25-14, 25-0 BNC East win over the Hornets.

Chicago Christian 2, Marian Central 0: At Palos Heights, Alex Kaufmann had 14 assists with three aces for the Hurricanes (9-8, 5-4) in their 25-20, 25-22 Suburban Christian Conference loss.

Boys Cross Country

CL Central quadrangular: At Crystal Lake, central defeated Woodstock and Grayslake Central in its last two FVC Fox duals to take the dual meet title in that division Tuesday at Veteran Acres Park.

The Tigers had Ryan Pitner, Zach Gemmel and Nick Amato finish 1-2-4 in the race to finish 6-0 in Fox Division dual meets. Woodstock, led by Luke Beattie in third place, was 5-1 in Fox duals.

Girls Cross Country

CL Central quadrangular: At Crystal Lake, the host Tigers took spots 3-7 to defeat Woodstock, 25-32, and win the FVC Fox Division dual meet title Tuesday at Veteran Acres Park. Central also defeated Grayslake Central and finished 6-0 in Fox duals.

Maddie Dagley, Mary Fleming, Janine Orvis, Kelly Doerr and Brooke Larsen were the Tigers’ five scoring runners. Woodstock’s Maura Beattie and Kate Jacobs took the top two spots.
