WOODSTOCK – A Crystal Lake man who admitted to exposing himself to a child accepted a plea deal Friday.

Benjamin D. Maddox, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child.

Assistant State's Attorney Robert Zalud said that on July 19, Maddox exposed himself while in the presence of the child, knowing that the child would see it. Maddox was charged in August by Crystal Lake police.

McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather accepted the plea agreement and sentenced Maddox to a year and a half in prison, followed by one year of parole. Maddox also must register as a sex offender upon his release.

In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop an additional sex offense, and other separate drug paraphernalia and theft charges.

Maddox could have been sentenced to up to three years in prison on the Class 4 felony.
