CRYSTAL LAKE – Eight Crystal Lake businesses face potential penalties for serving alcohol to minors after a weeklong police crackdown found multiple violations.

From Oct. 3 through Wednesday, Crystal Lake Police conducted alcohol sale compliance checks at 35 licensed establishments by having four undercover officers and four minors try to make purchases.

According to a Crystal Lake Police Department news release, eight businesses including Walmart Supercenter; Oak Street Food & Liquors; Kmart; Duke's Alehouse & Kitchen; Da Buffone Cucina Italiana; Village Squire; Fire Bar & Grill; and Moby Dick's committed violations.

Offending businesses were issued citations under local ordinances and adjudication citations. Those businesses must appear before an administrative law judge, who could fine the establishments. The city liquor commission also could take action against the businesses, according to the release.
