HUNTLEY – The majority of the new ramps constructed at the Route 47-Interstate 90 interchange in Huntley opened to traffic Friday morning, a sign that the $61 million project is near completion.

The Illinois Tollway Authority announced that motorists traveling along I-90 would be able to use four of the new ramps. The two additional ramps leading motorists west toward Rockford still are under construction.

Drivers traveling west on I-90 from Chicago will use two new ramps, exiting north and southbound to Route 47. Drivers traveling north and south along the new Route 47 bridge will use two new eastbound ramps to access I-90.

Huntley officials also met with the Tollway on Tuesday about the interchange update. Construction on the full interchange should be completed by early November, village officials said.

No tolls will be collected at the interchange until all ramps are open to traffic.
