A frost advisory is scheduled to be in effect overnight for McHenry County, the National Weather Service said.

Temperatures are expected to drop to the low-to-mid 30s for the first widespread frost of the season, the weather service said.

The advisory is scheduled for 3 to 8 a.m. Monday.

High pressure over the area is expected overnight, along with calm winds and rapidly falling temperatures, which will set the stage for the frost west of the Fox River Valley, the weather service said.

The weather service said sensitive plants maybe damaged or killed if they're left unprotected.
