To the Editor:
About 14 percent of the federal budget is under the control of Congress.
Why? Because for 50 years, liberal Democrats have created entitlement monsters that are untouchable. I must not omit or exonerate the liberal Republicans, though rarely in power, that contributed to these economic lobotomies.
After 1994, I had hopes that deficit spending and all of its associated ills would begin to disappear. I certainly didn’t think that with a Republican majority, we would see new entitlements popping up from the tip of the melting iceberg. However, President Bush added to the nonsense with the Education Bill, the Farm Bill, and the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill.
Now we have the Affordable Care Act that, according to all the people who never read the bill but voted for it (all Democrats), was going to lower health-care costs, improve quality and care coordination, and expand access to all Americans.
Sometime ago, I was told that a person could not go into an emergency room and get treated for cancer. As it turns out, I happen to know someone who categorically disproved that notion.
Actually, the ACA is a classic case of a solution in search of a problem. Naturally, a fake crisis had to be constructed to promote this medical coup, but, in the near future, we’ll see that the government is just as efficient as ever.
