Published: Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 4:59 p.m. CDT

CRYSTAL LAKE – Intrigue Fitness of Lake in the Hills is hosting the Northern Illinois Pole Fitness Convention including a pole fitness showcase from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at D’Andrea Banquets & Conference Center, 4419 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake.

The event initially was scheduled to be held at Park Place Banquets, but was changed because of a contractual conflict, Intrigue Fitness owner Linda Costoff said.

The showcase includes performances to music using vertical poles. Many different styles of dance will be displayed. Pole-dance fitness is a gymnastic-type sport that builds muscle, burns fat, increases endurance and improves agility.

Tickets cost $25 in advance or $35 at the door. Only cash payments will be accepted at the door.

The showcase is open to the public, age 18 and older. The doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The convention is a weekend event and includes a pole jam from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 2 and pole workshops Nov. 3 at Intrigue Fitness, 9115 Trinity Drive, Lake in the Hills.

These events are for those practicing pole fitness.
