Fire board accountability

To the Editor:

To all registered voters of the McHenry Township Fire Protection District, concerned citizens in your area are collecting signatures for the election of the trustees for McHenry Township Fire Protection District.

Currently, the board is appointed by the McHenry County Board. These individuals use your tax dollars to manage an approximate $8 million budget annually and have zero accountability on how this money is spent.

The time is now to sign the petition that would bring the public the question of “whether the trustees of the McHenry Township Fire Protection District should be elected or remain appointed” to the ballot in the March 18, 2014, election.

I invite you to visit our website – – for information on our cause, or check out our Facebook page.

Together we can make a difference on how our tax dollars are managed by bringing accountability and transparency to the McHenry Township Fire Protection District.
