WOODSTOCK – District 200 will host a family event surrounding the premiere of the movie "Free Birds."
The event kicks off at the Woodstock Theater on Sunday, Oct. 27, with a red carpet event at 10 a.m. followed by the premiere at 10:30 a.m.
Several family activities are scheduled on the Woodstock Square after the movie. The activities include pumpkin and scarecrow decorating, making cards for US troops, a canned food fundraiser for local food pantries, pardoning of a turkey by Mayor Brian Sager and school board President Paul Meyer, a turkey dance with the District 200 dance team and KISS FM, and a live auction at the gazebo, according to a news release from the district.
The events are scheduled to run until about 2 p.m. The Family Alliance Haunted House also will be in operation from 1:30 to 4 p.m., the release said.
"Free Birds" is an animated, Thanksgiving-themed movie featuring the voices of Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson and Amy Poehler.
Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for kids, and must be bought ahead of time at any District 200 school or the Administrative Services Center, 227 W. Judd St., Woodstock.
