MCC offers forklift training programs

CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College Workforce Community and Business Programs has joined with forklift manufacturer UniCarriers Americas Corp. to offer forklift training from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday at the UniCarriers Americas facility in Marengo. 

The forklift operator course provides a way for businesses to comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards. OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.178 requires employers to establish and implement a forklift training and certification program. Failure to provide adequate training and certification as required by OSHA regulations can result in fines of up to $7,000 per employee.

The training provides participants with knowledge in powered industrial truck (forklift) operation and teaches the skills required to operate a lift truck in a correct and professional manner.

Trucks covered are Industrial Truck Association Classes 1 through 5.

Use course ID: NTE S54 004 to register for Friday’s class. Another class will be held Nov. 22 (course ID: NTE S54 005). 

The fee for the course is $125 and includes lunch. Participants get a certificate of completion at the end of the course.
