Learn how to make perfume at class in Crystal Lake

CRYSTAL LAKE – The Crystal Lake Park District will offer “Create Your Own Designer Perfume or Cologne” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Park Place, 406 W. Woodstock St.

Attendees will learn the history of perfume, discover how musical metaphors make up each fragrance accord and gain a knowledge of fragrance composition and chemistry, including the differences between perfume, eau de toilette and cologne.

Using 98 scents, instructors Sara Kirkby and Steve Hoselton, owners of Fashion Your Fragrance, will guide attendees in producing their own custom fragrance. Participants will go home with a quarter-ounce spray.

The cost is $30 for residents and $35 for nonresidents.
