HARVARD – Friday is the deadline to get tickets for the McHenry County Historical Society’s Golden Anniversary Dinner on Nov. 2 at the Starline Factory in Harvard.
The 1960s-themed semi-formal dinner will feature presentations, displays, music, a variety of raffle baskets and a dance contest. Period dress is encouraged but not required. Attendees should dress as though they are going to a nice restaurant or out to see a show.
Tickets cost $60.
Keynote speaker and retired society administrator Nancy Fike will talk about the infancy of this historic nonprofit organization and its founder, Dorothy McEachren.
Other highlights include an inaugural art auction. "The Face of McHenry County" is a juried fine art competition that will culminate from 5 to 9 p.m. at the dinner. Art will be displayed and sold by silent auction. Auction proceeds will be shared equally between participating artists and the society.
