Roundup: Crystal Lake co-op girls swimmers top Woodstock co-op

While the Woodstock co-op girls swimming team held an edge in the individual events, winning five of eight, the depth of the Crystal Lake co-op team was too much in a Fox Valley Conference meet.

Crystal Lake co-op won, 96-73, behind strong swims from distance specialist Nora Mollitor as she won both of her individual events: the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.56) and the 500 freestyle (5:40.34). Her team won one relay, the 200 freestyle relay in 1:51.34, but earned important points after taking second and third in the other two relays. 

Woodstock co-op was led by Tess Devinger, who won both of her individual events: the 200 individual medley (2:21.77) and the 100 breaststroke (1:14.91). She was also part of two winning relays.

Cary-Grove 93, McHenry 77: At McHenry, Ashlynn Baker won the 200 individual medley (2:27.68) and 500 freestyle (5:34.55) for the Trojans in an FVC win. 

McHenry's Michaela Matthys went under the state qualifying time in winning the 100 butterfly (58.72) and also won the 100 backstroke (1:02.50). 

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Huntley 2, Grayslake North 0: At Grayslake, the Red Raiders (22-13) won, 25-18, 25-12, in FVC crossover play and were led by Rachael Kisten's seven kills. Rachel Shores led the team with nine digs. Huntley finished fourth in the FVC Valley Division.

Dundee-Crown 2, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, the Chargers (14-16) were led by Kiana Mays, who had seven kills, and Kaylee Sommers, who added five aces and four digs, in an FVC crossover win, 25-14, 25-14. D-C finished sixth in the FVC Valley.

Alyssa Meyer led the Thunder (6-18) with six kills, while Sophie Walsh had a team-high three digs in the loss. The Thunder tied for sixth in the FVC Fox.

Jacobs 2, Hampshire 0: At Hampshire, Kyla Fitzsimmons led the Golden Eagles (20-15) to a 25-13, 25-17 win in FVC crossover play. Kassie Kasper added four digs, while Mackie Traub had a team-high 19 assists in the win. Jacobs finished fifth in the FVC Valley.

Hampshire (4-10) finished fifth in the FVC Fox.

McHenry 2, Woodstock 0: At Woodstock, Haley Kornfeind led the Warriors (12-22) with six kills and nine digs in their 25-15, 25-15 FVC crossover win. Zoe Lindsey added 11 assists. McHenry (12-22) finished seventh in the FVC Valley.

Woodstock (5-14) tied for sixth in the FVC Fox.

Prairie Ridge 2, Johnsburg 0: At Johnsburg, Charli Beam led the Wolves with 11 kills, and teammate Aubree Eggers had eight in the FVC crossover win. Prairie Ridge (20-15) tied or second in the FVC Valley.
